I’m Not Closeted.

Always have dreamt of having my own piece of heaven in my own home A.k.a. the walk-in closet. Who doesn’t want to have one right?

I was inspired even more when a local actress, Heart Evangelista’s closet was featured in Yes magazine. Hers was more girly of course. Her current beau helped her do her closet. Chiz proposed to use incandescent light to make the shoes/clothes look more appealing as they are on department stores. And that is where I got the inspiration of having a walk in closet that has a feel of like just being in a fancy clothing store. This will keep you or me from shopping more. Clothes will look better and so is my bank. Lol

This first inspiration picture is the closest to what I have in mind. It’s like being in a Anthropology store. It’s masculine and minimalistic. The colours are dark.

This second picture is more DIY inspired. You can just find these organising stuff on Ikea I guess and work from there. Still looks pretty cool. You have to just strategically plan where to put all the organizing racks here. A perfect time to be creative!

I also love this one below. Houses have like built in closets like this but you can just add up storage shelves.

You gotta have your island table! For sure. An essential piece in my walk in closet would be a full length mirror because it’s where all the magic happens! Dreaming is free and so I am making the most out of it. Planning is key and so is execution. Sooner I will get to have my own space. And this will be my project then.

Let your creative minds lead you to your inspiration. It’s not about being fancy.

If No One Will Do It For You

If no one will do it for you then do it yourself. Says selfie. Haha. I know. We all may have done one selfie in our lifetime. While I was waiting outside the dressing room, I did myself a favour of snapping some selfies. I was quite confident with this look that I pulled together. It’s chilly here in Melbourne and layering clothes is really to be taken seriously. You don’t wanna be a frozen delight. Do you? Lol

This was my first week here in Australia. Look how time flies so fast. Being away may be hard and all but I have to endure it. In the meantime, I could use some stress relief via these #OOTD’s and fashion and basically just occupying myself with productive things to do. Basically, what I want is just to meet new faces and get to know Melbourne more.

OOTD for Style Origin 2013

At the Style Origin 2013 Runway show we were required to dress up in street chic style. I was thinking of wearing a dress shirt and a pair of shorts to show a mix of casual which is street style and sophistication. The gladiator sandals were my touch of extra punch and edge also that extra pop of colour. The Folded and Hung jacket was a last minute touch up because it was hot too but I still brought it. Gladly I did because people there were all dressed so.

Look up, Look up! Haha.

All Alone

Started to work with the black pants first and tried on several shirts for the top and then it all came together. I am attending my best friends’ wedding, Cente and Tel which we have been preparing for months. The attire is strictly Barong Tagalog for the men but yes I was given permission by the bride to wear what I want. Ha! She really is my best friend. Haha.

The ensemble is looking smart casual than formal but I think it did look like that because I rolled up the sleeves and unbuttoned the shirt. Forgive me but it is really a hot day so those are necessary to survive the wedding at the Church.

I am nowhere near the jungle, but the lipstick jungle. Kidding. This was shot at our backyard. I was thinking of wearing a black belt but I thought it’s boring so I opted for the brown. By the way, this slim belt is reversible if you change your mind and you want black then just twist it and you’re good. I really like that functionality. It gives you convenience and it’s a price of one for two.

Meanwhile, I wasn’t intending on having brown for my accessories it just happened. And it went well I think. I love my addition of the clutch.

And before I forget, I would like to thank my friends for ditching me on the wedding! I understand but yes it sucks to be alone. And common it’s our friend’s wedding.  You guys are awesome! haha. Kidding. :)

What I wore: Jean Top and pants from Uniqlo, Belt from The SM Store, Shoes custom made, Leather clutch custom made, Specs from Giordano

Hype this look on lookbook! Please? Lol.

The Greenbelt Sale

I just love Ayala Malls. The most stylish and customer-centered shopping mall is holding a scavenger hunt, the Greenbelt Shopping Race! Just accomplish the tasks stated above and you just might win Stella Luna Shoes, P30,000 shopping spree(oh my jeezas) and travel packages. This is in line with the mall's on going sale and here’s more good news because they have extended the sale to July 31!

Be sure to get those tasks done in style! I would pop up there in Greenbelt and be like those teens scrambling from one store to the other. haha.

Shop like there’s no tomorrow! Because there are more ways and reasons to shop.

The Fire of Adrian Sahagun

A friend of mine is out there embarking his name in the cut throat industry of fashion. Currently in the rear end of a reality-based fashion design competition, the Mega Young Designers Competition All Stars airing on ETC. Under the helm of his head designer, Jeffrey Rogador that guides his proteges during the challenges. He is consistently kicking butts week by week with pretty unique cuts, silhouettes, and designs. Clearly, Adrian Sahagun has it!  In the competition's final challenge, he was given heavy praises by the judges during the critique. And now he is part of the final three.

His identifier is that fiery red hair. With Ms. Universe 2013 1st runner up, Janine Tugonon and 2010 Miss Universe 4th runner up, Venus Raj.

This was his ticket to the final 3. He won the last challenge, the Nivea Ad Campagin 48-hour Challenge.

This is my favourite work from him in the competition. The Retaso(Scraps) Challenge(Above).

Going back during his study of fashion design in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, he was convincing me to enroll but I wasn’t ready yet and still.  Adrian knew already what his calling was. During their graduation, he placed second place for best designer. The use of unconventional and sustainable materials are the groundwork of his graduation collection.  But making it wearable and on trend is his big challenge.

Part of his graduation collection. Shown Above.

He gladly answered my questions even from his pretty occupied schedule. Super nice.

Describe your designs.

"My designs vary. I tend to be experimental at times. But my design aesthetic have always been with cuts, lines, structures, and geometry. Lately, i've been fascinated by how geometry is incorporated into fashion. Though my designs may sometimes be laborious, i still want my designs to be clean and tailored. I would also like to consider that i'm designing for strong & confident people who are not afraid to stand-out."

How did fashion  school help you shape or refine your creative process?

"Well fashion School (Fashion Institute of the Philippines) really helped me a lot. From the patterns & conceptualization.  I could remember myself putting buttons and zippers on my shirts just to make them different among others. Then there came the desire to actually design and make clothes that only I or my client/s would have. I could also remember how simple my designs were as i was starting. But with a lot of exposure from our school such as fashion events, fashion shows, etc., I was able to somehow make my designs more fashion forward, stylish, and  expensive-looking."

A dream for designers to land magazine covers and feature for top magazines here and abroad. Adrian didn’t disappoint as he already dressed today’s hottest stars for glossies and more. I too can’t wait to wear one of his designs. Right Adrian? Haha. Given a pretty young start for his career, his present feat is pretty impressive. From his growing portfolio, here are Adrian’s magazine features.

Also his designs had hit the boob tube. Kyla & Jolina wore his graduation pieces on Party Pilipinas, a now defunct musical variety show (October 7, 2012). Rachelle Ann Go also wore his graduation pieces for IOSPH Gala Night , & Yeng Constantino wearing his cerebral shoulder-piece for ASAP Singapore, the top and longest running musical variety show in the Philippines.

What is next for Adrian Sahagun? Any future plans for your blossoming career?

"I plan to put up my own clothing brand in the future. But as of the moment, I would also like to venture designing for bridal clients. This I think is another part of fashion that I have yet to discover and hone. I also plan to make few RTW items which i plan to sell online (Which hopefully i would have time to do so haha)."

And to top that all that he has done, Adrian is such a nice guy too. Most of the time laughing, even if we just converse thru Facebook. He is super humble and success does get into his head. I hope not just yet? haha. I’m kidding. I hope too that with his hyper hectic schedule he can still squeeze that time to make me that jacket I was asking him. Haha. I’m tenacious Adrian! Make it work! haha. Furthermore, I can’t wait to say and blog that I wore Adrian Sahagun. Yes yes.

Irrefutably, Adrian already has a crystal clear and solid point of view. From prints, TV, and runways, he has definitely captured the eyes of the pedantic fashion authorities here in the Philippines and abroad is not that far behind. Adrian is gradually making a name for himself. A good marriage of talent and a sound mind can make for a perfect weapon in the intense fashion industry. But a persistent and unrelenting will to improve himself is what really gives him that fire to achieve his career goals and even go beyond his dreams.

Impartially speaking and I’m gonna bet on it, I do trust that Adrian will really be the next big fashion designer!

You can follow him thru his Twitter account @adrian_MegaYDC. And don’t forget to watch him on the Mega Young Designers Competition ALL Stars, Mondays only at ETC.

#LOOKBOOKThursday

Taking away from Instagram’s #throwbackthursday, I rummaged thru LookBook’s hottest and newest ensembles from style savvies.  Here are my top picks.

I am a sucker for looks that are not too out there nor too polished. Just like this, there’s an extra sense of grunge and random about the outfits. Like this first laid back look from Billy H. He balanced the simplicity of his top with printed aztec printed shorts, boat shoes tied with red laces, and accessorised with trinkets. I think its not too much its just right.

Christian W. of  Melbourne's look will give me a run for my money. I have been making this look as my inspiration for some of my outfits. The perfect mix of casual and edge I must add. Since summer,  my hands are getting itchy in wearing jackets and layering things. Now that the weather got a little chill, I can now have a perfect excuse to layer things and get those outerwear out of the closet! I like that he added an extra pop of colour via boat shoes(which are on trend now with those unexpected colour pops with the sole), it makes it even cooler than expected.

This ensemble was well put together. I love how the jacket hugged his physique. Tailored fit. Accessorised with a clutch, knitted scarf which gave the look a sense of sophistication than being too casual.

Tobias L.’s look- I just love it. I’m obsessed with grays. Simple. Love it!!

H&M Jean shirt X DIY

This was my friend, Tel’s original idea. She showed me a picture of a shirt from H&M that she should’ve bought for her now fiance but when she was actually going to buy it was gone already. Too bad! Then, she told that it can be done by just cutting off the sleeves of a jacket and attaching a new sleeves to the jacket.

This was that H&M shirt minus the navy blue sleeves. Couldn’t find the exact shirt.

Finding your materials
So it instantly sparked my creative juices, I got off to the nearest thrift store to find some cool pieces that I can deconstruct. Luckily, I got something with 160 pesos, a pair of jackets in muted colours.

Dyeing
The shirt on the right side is too pale for blue so I decided to dye it to navy blue to emanate like a denim. See instructions for dyeing here.
While for the khaki brown shirt on the left, I didn’t go for dyeing it since fabric dyes here are little too limited with colours it might turn out like mahogany so I’m saving it. Hehe.

Chopping and attaching the sleeves
1. Measure the length from the middle of your palm to your shoulders and then use this measurement for the length of your sleeves. What I did was I gave a few allowance like 2 cm from the sleeve and then cut it out.
2. If you know how to sew using a machine then go for it. As for me, I opted to have it sewn from my friend.

And Voila!

Thoughts?

Rocker Dapper

I was going thru Pinterest when I stumbled upon this look. It really got me inspired. Doesn’t  literally scream rock and roll but it is a more subtle way of getting that look without being too out there. That captured my sense of style, not to really be so literal with everything. Just the right elements.

What this look got me was the leather sleeves of the jacket and the guy’s outpouring guts and confidence. Yes, it’s how you bring the look to life and be comfortable with it. Oh, the scruffs helped to toughen the look. This may look too casual than rock and roll chic without those special touches.

Would want to have my own spin of this look with this motorcycle vest. Can’t wait!

Confessions of a Not-So Shopaholic

I was in Marquee Mall with my sister. As I was going thru the sale rack, I stumbled upon this dapper jacket with faux leather shoulder patch detail. I have this fondness for clothes that accentuate or mimic strong shoulders like epaulettes and this unique leather patch. Interestingly, I got this super chic jacket for 600 pesos only(just $14) which originally retails at 1,399 pesos. Seldom do I spoil myself with ‘new’ clothes lately as I am also stretching my spending power and this one’s right on the money.

Upon seeing the movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic this morning I was saving myself from the guilt of overspending. Because unfortunately(as I would want to put it), I saw an equally on-trend denim jacket also on the sale rack for only 800 pesos. But I successfully got hold of myself, the shopaholic in me, to fight against it. hehe. Please, I deserve an applause. haha.

SAVED 799 pesos! Proud of this haul! two thumbs up.

Folded and Hung is having their end-of-the-season sale this whole month of June! Grab this chance. :)

The Best is Yet to Come

This day was a momentous day for most people I care about. We gained victory. I want to just keep my mouth shut about this. hehe. I didn’t intend to wear one of my favourite military inspired shirt to emanate a soldier in the battle. But it was just an haphazard pick and good enough it meshed well with my blue pants and my topsider shoes. I felt so happy with this outfit.

I used my first designed bag and this time I managed to use it as an accessory, the clutch bag. I just got beheaded. Lol

Malayo ang tingin! In english, starry starry eyes. haha

Please understand that this is my favourite shirt if in case you’re fed up with it. haha. It may be old but it still is cool and sleek. Overused piece of….

Whatever it is that thing that I don’t want to spill out, this is not over yet. Because we are just starting to get what is truly ours. Tik tok tik tok. Times ticking. And as for myself, just as Ellie Goulding was saying in her song Anything Could Happen. Indeed! Be it good or bad, I am leaving it all to Him. He knows best and I did everything that I could so no regrets just love? haha.

Bye Ya’ll!

Leather Be Good, Leather Be Bad

Hey gorgeous!

Oh not you honey. It’s these sexy leather satchel bags from Emil Erwin. Emil Erwin bags are super sleek, well-made no doubt and notably hit my soft spot! Completely, these are a total head turners. I myself will be one of those who will stop in the middle of the street to check it out. To check whether what brand it is, how well made it is, the design. It may be an over reaction but you know it’s me. hehe.

I can smell the extra delicious scent of pure leather coming out of the package. Hmmmmmm.  7th heaven.

I am torn between these two colours(above and below). Or can I just have them both??? haha. Yeah dream on.

While this Prada fabric/leather bag didn’t disappoint as well. It also has a head-turning value. It’s quite casual than the formal/dressy/preppy leather satchel. This might be an option too for my next project.

Roses are red, violets are blue. No one can make me hate with this satchel bag in sight. #TrulyScrumptious

What do you guys want among these? Help me make up my mind. Lol

The Bright Idea Project

While I was rummaging SM city Clark, a local mall here in the Philippines, I got caught up with the laptop and gadget cases. I was specifically interested with this Case Logic Envelope sleeve. It really looked sleek and sharp plus its waterproof. Although it is a bit pricey at $68, you will definitely get what you pay for.

The opening of the sleeve is higher than usual to create a tight seal for protecting the unit from any spilling liquids. Bright Idea eh?

That brings us to my Bright idea project, the great leather sleeve! I sketched a design that I want with all the details in it. Then, I pitched this to my Mom to ask for some funding(she paid for it all)! haha. Yes, I’m broke as hell. Planning to get this done to my shoe/bag store where I got my oxford flats done. I chose a leather of my liking. They said it will cost me like 1,400 pesos or $34. Not bad really, it’s half the price of the Case Logic laptop sleeve.

I designed it in a way that it is simple and classic so it can withstand time. Timeless design. Having said that I can also use it as a clutch bag whenever I want to. A fashion forward accessory for a style savvy like me.

I was pleased with the result! And I should be. :)

Wait for my next bright idea project! And I’m feeling that it won’t be that of a long wait. :)
