Initially

Unconsciously, I guess I am mostly drawn towards denim. Just last week I stopped by a garage sale near our unit and managed to score a vintage denim jacket for 5 bucks!
(which I have been looking for, for such a long time now). I used to see a lot of these in the thrift when I was in the Philippines but knowing that it is pretty humid to wear those in the streets I just pass them up.

This time it is beginning to warm up already for summer. But it still gets a little chilly sometimes. Melbourne weather is pretty moody like an old lady. I just went with this all denim ensemble. The top is a thrifted Izzue brand which was one of my favorites. Then I just wore a navy blue Tee from Levis and my dependable ASOS extreme super skinny jeans. My shoes are from Zara which I didn’t think I will wear again as it was really tight and kills my toes badly but after I breaking them in, they are okay now.

I thought that my style is becoming more subtle and less flashy like before. Well, I can say my style matures too. I opt for more basics now and staple pieces which can translate to a lot of occasions. I have stocked up mostly on basic T shirts( I think I’m overdoing it now). I’m trying some minimalism now.

Oh my, I have been so lazy to be honest with you but also really busy with work now. This is my first post of the year! I am active on Instagram if you can follow me @knyfortaleza. Will keep trying my hardest to post more!

#OOTD: Nightmare on Maud Street

I did a denim on denim styling here. I tried to use different wash of denim to show off their varied wash and to somehow camouflage the shirt as not being denim. Joggers have been on trend too. It has been a trendy design on classic pair of trousers like the smart jersey jogger pants I wore from my previous post. I am not a fan of drop crotch pants but this Cotton On joggers fit me like a glove. The skinny fit sold me because it doesn’t look too drop crotch when it sits in my thighs.

These outfit posts sometimes are just non sense right? But it’s just what is on my mind. I just want to share my style and hoping to inspire people to be themselves. I pull my confidence from what I wear so I really try to dress up even for a walk to the grocery.

About the look:
Jacket from H&M (Bought this from Malaysia)
Denim shirt from the thrift (I only got this for 2 bucks!!)
Jeans from Cotton On (was on sale)
Shoes from Roger David (was on sale for 15 bucks!)

Leather Kind of Love

Sanderson Leather Biker Jacket from All Saints.

Jasper Leather Biker Jacket from All Saints.

Leather jackets are worthy of the splurge. These are investment pieces that can last a lifetime and can be your heirloom as well. Hand it over to the next generation down on your family tree, it instantly becomes a vintage piece. All Saints clothing has a wide range of pieces from menswear to womenswear. I absolutely adore these two in particular.

These jackets can instantly make a simple or boring piece look more interesting. Imagine these outfits without the jacket. It   just leaves them to a casual daily look. As they say, you can never go wrong with black. I reckon if women have their lifesaver little black dress, us guys have black leather jacket. You can wear almost anything with it.

The Super-Skinny-Jeans State of Mind

The currency of my creative mind tells me that I am obsessed with super skinny jeans. That of from ASOS, I was reluctant to try their stuff as I don’t have the chance to fit them but after several tempting moments, I got down and purchased myself a pair on my birthday(to have an excuse to shop). I must say, I am quite distressed of not receiving an invitation. Corny jokes aside, I was extremely happy about the purchase. I bought their Extremely Super Skinny Jeans line in true blue I suppose. It hugs really tight to your body but you can still sit down without cutting circulation.

Although the fit might not be someone else’s cup of tea, I don’t really care much as I am really satisfied and felt really confident wearing it. That’s the bottom line of fashion. As long as you feel like you can carry yourself with anything, go for it! It didn’t bother me that I might look like a sausage from the extremely tight fit. But pair it with a slightly loose or boxy top to balance out the outfit. To maybe hide out your jewels if it gets really tight.

This isn’t a sponsored post of ASOS. But let me share with that they are having 20% off on regular priced items. You just need to download their mobile app. This promo is available thru mobile only. Just key in MOBILEAPP at checkout.

A tip for those interested in purchasing a pair of these, if you don’t like a super snug fit but still want this cut just size up about 1-2 sizes. These pair are right up my alley as they don’t flare like most other skinny jeans. It is so unflattering  and uncomfortable when I see my pants flaring like its not supposed to! So, I really recommend this. A must have for me.

Sneaking to the Top

Sneakers and runners are becoming staple pieces not only for the sporty but for the fashionistas as well. These foot-friendly shoes tries to break the norms and gives us more options in styling our clothes. Women wear their dresses and pair it with Airmax’s or Vans sneakers. The kind of usual scene I see in the streets of Melbourne. I love how this trend is out of the box. You don’t have to conform with the norm. Because that’s what fashion really is.

Love this (top) gold tipped sneakers. The golden touch emanates some sophistication that makes for just an ordinary shoe. It is a showpiece. They look like they are Adidas shoes.

This sneakers(below) definitely has that clean lines and monochromatic tones to it that gives the expensive appeal to it. What is good in fashion is that you can wear apparently what you feel you like wearing. Unless, you intend on minding on other’s prejudices you will be defeated. So be yourself. Shake it off. Obsessed with black and white.

Meanwhile, let’s enjoy this trend and be happy because we are doing our feet some favour here. Than wearing hard soles and high heels. If you’re into wearing them.

Button Down for what?

As I was going thru The Man Repeller, I got inspired to do a blog post about styling button downs. I thought that since I have a bunch of button downs laying around my closet, I really don’t have much idea on how to style it more. So I picked up on those pieces that they featured on the site.

I am just crazy over this first look. It is so simple and effortless looking. The fabrics worked so well together. I may not know what fabrics these are but I want to have one for myself. I just really love this. It feels so soft and comfortable just by looking at this photo. Looks effortlessly chic.

This is all about layering and a play on textures and prints. Being playful and taking some risks pays off sometimes so give it a go and it might work.

Oh my god, this is so sick. I really am into tailored looks. I haven’t thought of layering anything longer than this tailored jacket. Quite simply, it worked for this look! Bravo. Thank you Man Repeller for showing us new trends.

This last look I have been sporting around since 2012. I button up the first few holes and let the rest lay as it is. Going against the norm. I was surprised that throwing on different outerwears into this look didn’t look frumpy and bulky. She used different lengths and cuts here. So that’s the hint, play on different lengths to be able to get this look.

Fashion reflects ourselves. And it also shows how far we can go just by simply putting on garments. How imaginative and creative we are. I will try to create a spin on these looks! Hopefully, I can!

Monochromatic

Basics are essential to anyone even for the fashion enthusiast. Lately, I noticed that my choices are being dominated by monochromes like a basic white T-shirt or black shoes. Basics does magic sometimes when you are running out of ideas for an outfit. It’s a life saver so it’s a must to have a couple or more. You can never have too much basics in your closet. Sometimes, when you keep it simple it is where your style and personality comes through. Not overshadowed by being too loud.

If you want stay away from being tagged as goth god add simple details to your style like putting on a form fitting tshirt or rolling up the trousers a couple of inches to inject casualness into the ensemble or accessorize using handbags or adding an extra pop of colour like wearing printed socks. I’ll take funeral chic if people will. Lol.

Others may think that black is boring, but you can play with different textures like this layering outfit with the speckled black top and the leather bomber jacket which gives a shine and gives the outfit an extra runway boost or street style kick.

And so I have been obsessing myself with these monochromes with the blacks in particular. This Dr. Martens monochrome with the black stitching rather than the yellow is just perfect. This one this called 1461 Mono. I know that the yellow stitching is quite iconic and a signature look for a Dr. Martens shoe but its just my choice.

Last two weeks ago, I made up my mind to get a pair of boots but my mates held me back so I didn’t get it. I think that was a smart move as when I saw this pair. I thought it was more like my style than the bulky boots. And I thought, it adds more height than the boots which cuts of my ankle. You cannot go wrong with this. But I haven’t bought this yet. Haha.

And these pair of Nike Rosherun in midnight fog are running away from me. I have been chasing store after store for these elusive sneakers. After two hours of being on the shelves they are gone like that. Hopefully, I can get a pair of these with my size. Anyhow, these shoes are super comfortable and pairing it in my outfit will not cause any trouble. It’s one of those staples that are a must have!

My birthday is just around the corner and I think having these in my wardrobe will be a perfect gift! hint. hint. Haha.

Men in Celine

I applaud men who step out of the normal to take things to a higher level. Not everyone would take this lux Celine bag in the streets just because it’s not manly or too gay at that. But when you see men take their style game up, it breaks down the walls of mens fashion. Rather than just the predictable.

This fashion forward thinking man, carries a Celine Phantom bag in canvas. Love the colours! You can go to the gym with or go for a shopping afterwards.

This is my ultimate goal, to have my own Celine Mini Luggage. Preferably, the pebbled black one. I love basics. You can just do anything with it. But everything comes with a price of course which is just beyond my bank or most of us. I know this is too much but it’s not impossible. Right? It’s good to have something that you look forward to. Love love love it! I will work hard for this!

Fossil Fueled

Following my recent post, I have to do a separate post for my new squeeze. This ultra chic tan brown wallet from Fossil gave me the urge to just go with it and don’t ever think thrice. I lost my wallet few months ago and my cards are just scrambling around my bag so I really need a new one. It is really hard to search for your cards scattered in your bag like when purchasing something I think the register need to give me 3 minutes to frantically search for the damn card. Not a good scenario. So when I saw this, I thought I really need it.

It has this simple design but means business look. It is not bulky unlike other wallets that I have owned before. There is a designated card holder, a coin purse at the back and a zipped storage for your mobile phone( which I won’t be using as that because my phone is a bit large for it). Really sleek and just with pure functionality. Got this for AUD 40 which originally is 60 bucks but it was on sale. I know it is not the best buy out there but I always have this motto in shopping that when you saw something that you really need and you have enough money, then go for it because next time it might be on other’s hand already when you see it on the streets. And you like wanna just die in regret for not buying it! EXCUSES. EXCUSES. HAHAHA.

I really really love it! It is just perfect for me!

That Kind of Day

Don’t you just have those days that you just want to go out and do something like go shopping even if you don’t have much of a plan what to buy. Well, that day came today and I went to Southwharf DFO(direct factory outlet) in Melbourne to check out the stores there. Not long enough I stumbled upon a gorgeous Fossil wallet that really suited my needs and aesthetic! I mean halleluiah. Haha.

And a super nice salesperson came to me commenting on how she likes my bag and my outfit and of course I was so flattered that someone could be that vocal about her thoughts. She was awesome and cool. She even knows Filipino words. Francesca was her name. And we shared some thoughts about fashion and that she is studying fashion design. How amazing is that? I was even more inspired to get myself to fashion school. So I told her I have a blog and asked for it and I wrote it down. It’s lovely to meet new faces. Gives you more perspective of how every person is different and the same.

What I wore today: Moto jacket- a hand me down from a friend
                                Skull Tshirt- Thrifted
                                Pants- Oxygen
                                Shoes- Stray
                                Bag- SM store

And it’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week!!!!! I am eggzoited!

Reptile Chic

Reptiles can be scary and yucky but Megan Fox proves that reptiles can be this glamorous. I love this dress on her. The shoulder detail is what made this look stronger than feminine. I am a sucker for shoulder details. I love accentuating my shoulders. Megan’s comfort zone are action movies like Transformers and just recently TMNT. This definitely sealed that passion for action.

Keep it up Meg!

High Waisted Society

This high waited look that I stumbled upon from Billboard’s post for Lollapalooza, makes me want to get my own pair of high waisted denims. A lot of women have worn high waisted shorts or denims but for men seldom have I seen them wear it. It’s actually pretty cool and hip. Is it really back??? This is Cole Doman at the festival wearing vintage Kokorokoko.

Love it or hate it.  But I might go to the thrift this weekend and score one of this. Spring is just around the corner here and I can definitely tie this in my wardrobe. Maybe, tuck some printed collared shirts in there.

#OOTD: The Grunge

Went downtown to check out a local op shop (they call thrift stores, Op Shop here in down under), luckily got some cool stuffs there! So stoked. My friend Kristyl and I never really expected to find good finds there but we were wrong. Maybe I can make a post of my current thrift haul next week if I don’t get lazy. Haha. Thanks to Kristyl for taking the shots here. Love them!

Anyways, grunge trend sort of grew on me and I decided to give it a go. And so I worked around my only flannel shirt and paired it with my red cardigan from Cotton On. For my trousers, I wore this track pants that I got from the thrift which was from MNG. It was a good find and I use it quite often. And just went with my rubber shoes for a more casual look.

Hope you guys liked my look! You can hype this on my lookbook account.

#OOTD: Untitled

Yesterday, I got sucked by Lookbook’s hot #ootd posts. So I got inspired and got my style on. In this ensemble I tried to add formal by tucking the shirt and accented it with a brown belt to also match the jacket. The jacket was a newly thrifted piece from Savers. I really like this jacket it’s so warm and the earth tone colour did make me like it even more. The jacket was a 90’s inspired look which I think is coming back. I reckon. I rolled up my pants and went without socks to have that casual vibe and just went with my very dependable black sneakers from Stray.

And a friggin selfie of course!!! Haha.

Happy Sunday everyone!

#OOTD: Jeans Dean

It’s my nod to denim and it’s iconic contribution to the fashion world. The top is a thrifted piece I got from the Philippines while my favorite tight fitting jeans are from Oxygen Clothing, one of my go-to brands in the Philippines. Oh how I missed shopping there! The black jacket is my staple outerwear when I can’t think anything else to pair with my outfit. It’s so versatile that it can fit into any ensemble given that it was just a thrifted piece I got for 100 pesos or like 2 bucks?

Went full on denim on denim in this #ootd post. I went with this light washed denim shirt to have a contrast with my darkly washed denim skinny jeans. To also camouflage that it is not a jean shirt is my goal in this ensemble. Tbh, I really like how the simplicity of this ensemble came together. It’s so me! hehe.

I hope you guys liked my OOTD post.

The “I’m quite distressed denim shirt”!! haha

Forget about the mess of this toilet! hahaha.

and my ridiculous smile here! I look terrible but I still uploaded it. haha.
