No Wonder

For the first time since I bought it last year, I was able to wear this comfy and edgy tanned leather jacket. I was so excited to wear this out! Paired it with a thrifted jumper for added insulation since it’s getting cold in here. I was out to visit a friend and decided to take shots at this lovely Victorian houses. My man bag is from the thrift as well. Guess how much I got it for? A dollar! Such a crazy steal for a leather bag. Score!

I kept the whole outfit simpler to let the jacket shine on it’s own. It’s the star of this look.

I haven’t gotten tired of looking down for my outfit shots yet. I’ll get over it when I discover a new way to showcase my facets. Lol.

I really don’t have anything to blabber about aside from the fact that I am bored as hell. Haha. I just love dressing up for nothing. Have you been in that mood where you just wanna be and feel like you’re a rockstar? This is it. Haha.

Initially

Unconsciously, I guess I am mostly drawn towards denim. Just last week I stopped by a garage sale near our unit and managed to score a vintage denim jacket for 5 bucks!
(which I have been looking for, for such a long time now). I used to see a lot of these in the thrift when I was in the Philippines but knowing that it is pretty humid to wear those in the streets I just pass them up.

This time it is beginning to warm up already for summer. But it still gets a little chilly sometimes. Melbourne weather is pretty moody like an old lady. I just went with this all denim ensemble. The top is a thrifted Izzue brand which was one of my favorites. Then I just wore a navy blue Tee from Levis and my dependable ASOS extreme super skinny jeans. My shoes are from Zara which I didn’t think I will wear again as it was really tight and kills my toes badly but after I breaking them in, they are okay now.

I thought that my style is becoming more subtle and less flashy like before. Well, I can say my style matures too. I opt for more basics now and staple pieces which can translate to a lot of occasions. I have stocked up mostly on basic T shirts( I think I’m overdoing it now). I’m trying some minimalism now.

Oh my, I have been so lazy to be honest with you but also really busy with work now. This is my first post of the year! I am active on Instagram if you can follow me @knyfortaleza. Will keep trying my hardest to post more!

#OOTD: Nightmare on Maud Street

I did a denim on denim styling here. I tried to use different wash of denim to show off their varied wash and to somehow camouflage the shirt as not being denim. Joggers have been on trend too. It has been a trendy design on classic pair of trousers like the smart jersey jogger pants I wore from my previous post. I am not a fan of drop crotch pants but this Cotton On joggers fit me like a glove. The skinny fit sold me because it doesn’t look too drop crotch when it sits in my thighs.

These outfit posts sometimes are just non sense right? But it’s just what is on my mind. I just want to share my style and hoping to inspire people to be themselves. I pull my confidence from what I wear so I really try to dress up even for a walk to the grocery.

About the look:
Jacket from H&M (Bought this from Malaysia)
Denim shirt from the thrift (I only got this for 2 bucks!!)
Jeans from Cotton On (was on sale)
Shoes from Roger David (was on sale for 15 bucks!)

Button Down for what?

As I was going thru The Man Repeller, I got inspired to do a blog post about styling button downs. I thought that since I have a bunch of button downs laying around my closet, I really don’t have much idea on how to style it more. So I picked up on those pieces that they featured on the site.

I am just crazy over this first look. It is so simple and effortless looking. The fabrics worked so well together. I may not know what fabrics these are but I want to have one for myself. I just really love this. It feels so soft and comfortable just by looking at this photo. Looks effortlessly chic.

This is all about layering and a play on textures and prints. Being playful and taking some risks pays off sometimes so give it a go and it might work.

Oh my god, this is so sick. I really am into tailored looks. I haven’t thought of layering anything longer than this tailored jacket. Quite simply, it worked for this look! Bravo. Thank you Man Repeller for showing us new trends.

This last look I have been sporting around since 2012. I button up the first few holes and let the rest lay as it is. Going against the norm. I was surprised that throwing on different outerwears into this look didn’t look frumpy and bulky. She used different lengths and cuts here. So that’s the hint, play on different lengths to be able to get this look.

Fashion reflects ourselves. And it also shows how far we can go just by simply putting on garments. How imaginative and creative we are. I will try to create a spin on these looks! Hopefully, I can!

Kenny Humphrey

I have always thought that I am the less popular in class. The one who is not famous, doesn’t mingle that much but is into what is pop and new. Like a complete contrast of what I show and what I have inside but that was jurassic years ago. A lot has changed since High School.

Gossip Girl has reminded  me of what I am in the social strata, the Humphrey’s. I can say that I am not those privileged kids who gets the most coveted toys when they want to but just enough to get the cravings satisfied. I guess I fall on the middle class. Being in the middle has been fine with me. But I also dream of getting above of course like who doesn’t?

I was reminded of Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl when she broke free from her family and the crazy world she stepped on and just took her sewing machine away and took a lot of guts. I hope I can do that and just run away and do what I want. But honestly I can’t. Certainly, I am not that type of person who runs away from responsibilities to just be free of worry and drawbacks. Nevertheless, I believe that I can still be who I wanted to be without rushing on decisions and evading on your responsibilities.

Ahem, Ahem. Sorry for being too melodramatic. Let’s fast track on to the fun part. I wanted to learn how to sew and grabbed this sewing machine in this high end suburb in Melbourne.

The sewing machine is really quite heavy. Channeling my inner Jenny Humphrey here. Lol

I love posing like this. Got this from Blogger extraordinaire, David Guison. He’s my inspiration. I just decided to be casual and went with my flip flops from Havaianas.

What I wore: Thrifted Bershka cardigan.
tanktop from Folded and Hung
My favourite skinny jeans from Oxygen
Thrifted sling bag
Snapback from Glued

and that’s all for now. xox

Aspiring in Spring

Spring has sprung. This is my second spring time here down under. Definitely, I have been excited for this season as I can really go out without being too covered up and worrying to have a jacket always ready at your side. But I really loathe summer is because it is barbecue hot! Like seriously, I wouldn’t even dare going out.

It is that time to get those shorts and get your cotton on! Yeah, I connect that with my outfit today which is mostly from Cotton On. I was really on my feet to go out today and enjoy the sun.

Sometimes, negative comments get to me so deep I tend to curl up and do self-pity. But after this stage, I just try to learn from it and just be wiser this time. Failures are supposed to make us better and not bitter. Without failures, success I reckon would be impossible. No one will make that iPhone 6 Plus not to be bendable. Of course after that bend gate scandal they will definitely do something about it. Just look life as that. Haha. I mean I should.

What I wore: Cardigan, Denim Top, Skinny jeans from Cotton On, Boat Shoes from the thrift, bag from Sirrico, Watch from Tomato

#OOTD: The Grunge

Went downtown to check out a local op shop (they call thrift stores, Op Shop here in down under), luckily got some cool stuffs there! So stoked. My friend Kristyl and I never really expected to find good finds there but we were wrong. Maybe I can make a post of my current thrift haul next week if I don’t get lazy. Haha. Thanks to Kristyl for taking the shots here. Love them!

Anyways, grunge trend sort of grew on me and I decided to give it a go. And so I worked around my only flannel shirt and paired it with my red cardigan from Cotton On. For my trousers, I wore this track pants that I got from the thrift which was from MNG. It was a good find and I use it quite often. And just went with my rubber shoes for a more casual look.

Hope you guys liked my look! You can hype this on my lookbook account.

OOTD AW '14

Definitely, there are no ants or whatever below. Haha.

I am not fixing anything just a way to get shot. Haha.

One day I decided to go matchy matchy with my outfit. Tried to pull off a mix of casual street style and a bit of preppiness which I can say best describes my style. Red is my favourite colour. It is just a perfect pop of colour to make any outfit stand out and look exciting.

About my outfit: This coat is a thrifted piece I got from the Philippines which is from the brand Bossini. The material is polyester which is perfect for the rainy winter days here. Then the shirt I wore but is barely seen here is from Oxygen. The black scarf is also a thrifted piece. Scarves and bonnets are must haves to bring because you’ll never know when it becomes really cold. It pays to get them handy. Skinny jeans are from Oxygen too. Who wears boat shoes during winter? Haha. I do. Guilty. But I thought it suited my ensemble. It was also thrifted from a local thrift here in Melbourne.
The Msense bag is from SM Store.

I love how this look came together. Leave down your comments below and tell me what you guys think!

Kenny and the City

So the day started, I went to the Victoria State Library to get some errands done. They have free internet there, an array of desktops for all to use. Thank you to the government. Lol. But I have my machine so I just needed a wifi connection.

I just happen to snapshot this awesome view as I went inside the library.

After I got bored, my senses told me to do some window shopping at H&M at Melbourne's GPO. I must say the display was classy and cool. I haven’t seen such sophistication with other H&M stores I have been to but it may also be because of the buildings architecture and historical heritage. Buildings here in Melbourne are being restored and preserved to really bring in the ambience of Australia.

This is the top view from the Men’s department at the second floor. Quite a sight to see actually.

And then there was me. There are real trees inside like leaves falling while you flick through the racks.

I decided to be casual that day. Got some heaps of things to carry like my laptop and other stuff.
WHAT I wore?
1. Flannel top that I thrifted when I had my vacay in the Philippines. (Wow, VACAY! Yes, I am claiming it!)
2. plain black singlet from Folded and Hung
3. Moss green pants from Uniqlo (the first Uniqlo flagship store has just opened here down under a week after H&M opened their first flagship store as well) Indeed, Melbourne is the shopping capital now.
4. Stray rubber shoes from Roger David.  I got only for 15 bucks at a sale. It resembles those New balance shoes I have been drooling on.

And the mannequins are…….everywhere.

And capped the night with this breathtaking skyline of Melbourne!

See ya all next time!

Sasa Summer

This is a Cotton On ensemble except for the cardigan by Bershka. Wore this to the city to go for shopping. I know it is a little too late for summer here in Australia but I’m still in for summer in the Philippines! Lol. Summer in OZ is really really hot like barbecue hot. That’s why when I went home last February, I told myself that I wouldn’t even utter a word for nagging about the hot weather in the Philippines.

Going back, I just love this laid back style. Just a tank and shorts. I reckon I should’ve ditched the boots but yeah. The Australian street style is quite simple but still they have that exciting element to their every outfit that I am trying to adapt. It is not that too overboard to do but still emanates a fashion sensibility that I can still identify myself in.

Black is the Color of My Energy

I love black. You can’t go wrong with it. No rules. Anything goes. And because winter is near, it is a great colour, as they say it absorbs heat. This was at IKEA. Loving the displays here actually. It just makes you daydream about your own home and how it would look like. So dreamy.

Especially love this display!

Look middle downwards.

Look more downwards. haha. Sorry but I am really looking for something really lost my self here. Lol

MMK emote. Haha.

And of course a mirror selfie! Lol

Autumn In My Heart

Just like that popular Korean Drama, Endless Love. The universe will not always conspire with what you desire. Sometimes, it just does betrays your indelible expectation of people and things. Seasons will not always sympathize with your life events or whatnot but today it did. Here in the southern hemishpere, fall is the trend and so is my feeling. Fallen and broken into bits and pieces.

Sorry for the drama! Haha. Anyhow, back to the fun part. Decided to assemble this look around this skull printed cardigan that I bought at a thrift. What I really admire in this look is that its just back relaxed and confortable but still makes me warm in the 12 degrees weather of Autumn. Paired this too with a cotton skull printed tee. I was thinking of wearing my skull socks and ring too but that is an overkill!

Heaps of sorry for guys for the super late post!
