Made In America

The beat of this girl group, Cimorelli is so much giving me positive vibes. I really like it! It’s super sweet, teeny thing. Just in time for my hunger for fresh sound. May need to be on the replay.

And this six member group are all sisters! They are a Youtube sensation.  Check their EP, Believe It released last year and their next EP, Made In America.

Satisfy your sound cravings!

Crazy Kids Fall Down?

Is it just me or these two songs quite sound similar. Oh yes, the common denominator: Will.i.am. Lol

Anyhow, I love them both!

Are we on the same page? Lol

The Fire of Adrian Sahagun

A friend of mine is out there embarking his name in the cut throat industry of fashion. Currently in the rear end of a reality-based fashion design competition, the Mega Young Designers Competition All Stars airing on ETC. Under the helm of his head designer, Jeffrey Rogador that guides his proteges during the challenges. He is consistently kicking butts week by week with pretty unique cuts, silhouettes, and designs. Clearly, Adrian Sahagun has it!  In the competition's final challenge, he was given heavy praises by the judges during the critique. And now he is part of the final three.

His identifier is that fiery red hair. With Ms. Universe 2013 1st runner up, Janine Tugonon and 2010 Miss Universe 4th runner up, Venus Raj.

This was his ticket to the final 3. He won the last challenge, the Nivea Ad Campagin 48-hour Challenge.

This is my favourite work from him in the competition. The Retaso(Scraps) Challenge(Above).

Going back during his study of fashion design in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, he was convincing me to enroll but I wasn’t ready yet and still.  Adrian knew already what his calling was. During their graduation, he placed second place for best designer. The use of unconventional and sustainable materials are the groundwork of his graduation collection.  But making it wearable and on trend is his big challenge.

Part of his graduation collection. Shown Above.

He gladly answered my questions even from his pretty occupied schedule. Super nice.

Describe your designs.

"My designs vary. I tend to be experimental at times. But my design aesthetic have always been with cuts, lines, structures, and geometry. Lately, i've been fascinated by how geometry is incorporated into fashion. Though my designs may sometimes be laborious, i still want my designs to be clean and tailored. I would also like to consider that i'm designing for strong & confident people who are not afraid to stand-out."

How did fashion  school help you shape or refine your creative process?

"Well fashion School (Fashion Institute of the Philippines) really helped me a lot. From the patterns & conceptualization.  I could remember myself putting buttons and zippers on my shirts just to make them different among others. Then there came the desire to actually design and make clothes that only I or my client/s would have. I could also remember how simple my designs were as i was starting. But with a lot of exposure from our school such as fashion events, fashion shows, etc., I was able to somehow make my designs more fashion forward, stylish, and  expensive-looking."

A dream for designers to land magazine covers and feature for top magazines here and abroad. Adrian didn’t disappoint as he already dressed today’s hottest stars for glossies and more. I too can’t wait to wear one of his designs. Right Adrian? Haha. Given a pretty young start for his career, his present feat is pretty impressive. From his growing portfolio, here are Adrian’s magazine features.

Also his designs had hit the boob tube. Kyla & Jolina wore his graduation pieces on Party Pilipinas, a now defunct musical variety show (October 7, 2012). Rachelle Ann Go also wore his graduation pieces for IOSPH Gala Night , & Yeng Constantino wearing his cerebral shoulder-piece for ASAP Singapore, the top and longest running musical variety show in the Philippines.

What is next for Adrian Sahagun? Any future plans for your blossoming career?

"I plan to put up my own clothing brand in the future. But as of the moment, I would also like to venture designing for bridal clients. This I think is another part of fashion that I have yet to discover and hone. I also plan to make few RTW items which i plan to sell online (Which hopefully i would have time to do so haha)."

And to top that all that he has done, Adrian is such a nice guy too. Most of the time laughing, even if we just converse thru Facebook. He is super humble and success does get into his head. I hope not just yet? haha. I’m kidding. I hope too that with his hyper hectic schedule he can still squeeze that time to make me that jacket I was asking him. Haha. I’m tenacious Adrian! Make it work! haha. Furthermore, I can’t wait to say and blog that I wore Adrian Sahagun. Yes yes.

Irrefutably, Adrian already has a crystal clear and solid point of view. From prints, TV, and runways, he has definitely captured the eyes of the pedantic fashion authorities here in the Philippines and abroad is not that far behind. Adrian is gradually making a name for himself. A good marriage of talent and a sound mind can make for a perfect weapon in the intense fashion industry. But a persistent and unrelenting will to improve himself is what really gives him that fire to achieve his career goals and even go beyond his dreams.

Impartially speaking and I’m gonna bet on it, I do trust that Adrian will really be the next big fashion designer!

You can follow him thru his Twitter account @adrian_MegaYDC. And don’t forget to watch him on the Mega Young Designers Competition ALL Stars, Mondays only at ETC.

Die Young and be Forever Young

Being in the mood to search for fresh hippie wallpaper to brighten up my laptop and my mood too. This forever young wallpaper just want to tell me to enjoy my life and be happy. To seize what we want, what we desire not worrying about what tomorrow and to feel forever young.

I can hear Ke$ha’s Die Young song playing...

This first one was from Csmlitratista. I super love the editing and the textography. Hyper cool!

Full Throttle Shopping Failure

This a repost of my last week’s post. I just want to make it still searchable in Google and other search engines for everyone to know. As I may put it, it was barred from the Google search engine for the purpose that I assumed to be true. Being a business mogul, people have ways to shut stuff up and my blog is evidently not an exception. Dropping bombs from my last weeks post, I think this was the reason. And so I am reblogging it. Suck this!

Last April 28, I bought an Urban Luggage from SM City Pampanga during their sale worth 3, 000 pesos. Before I purchased it, I raised my observation that the wheels aren’t going smoothly as expected so the sales representative sent me to the Department store(because the sale was held at the warehouse) to put on some lubricant on the wheels. They said that it was because its an old stock. June 7, while I was inspecting the wheels, I found out that the two front wheels are not rolling as they are supposed to. And my receipt was missing already. I voiced this complaint to SM City Pampanga’s twitter account.

I can’t just sit at home and do nothing so without ado I went to SM Pampanga first to ask if they will still accept replacement even without a receipt and so the sales representative said yes and told me to bring the luggage and so I did the same day. Only to find out that he will just put on lubricant to the wheels. He showed me options for replacement which are horrible. I was in utter rage because I went there just for that? And to think how far I traveled just to get there. A bad one hour travel via PUV plus the fact that I am carrying something like a big cross.

Then I received a reply few days after and tweeted me this:

@SMCityPampanga: @Kenny4taleza Sir, kindly DM your contact info so The SM Store can get in touch with you. Thank you.

So I tweeted my number. I received a call from Ms. Lei, the branch manager after 3 days and told me that she received an email regarding my complaint and I aired my story. She kindly said that I can go with the replacement and if I decide to go and have my suitcase replaced, to inform her so that the voucher could be prepared. I appreciated this effort, coming even from the brach manager herself. I felt important as a customer.

I had a date with my friends Saturday June 15 at SM Pampanga, and so I thought to drop by at the luggage department and look for a good replacement. I spotted a suitcase that I want. The sales personnel called Ms. Lei and we had a little talk. Told them that I’ll be coming back the next day with my luggage.

Yesterday, I was getting ready to go the mall. I called it extra challenge part two. The most gruelling part was the travel, the hassle, the inconvenient truth.( please laugh) But I was not happy. Arrived at the mall, and I went directly to the luggage department. They did their thing there and all. The luggage was Super Light as labelled on the front. Inspected the suitcase. So there I got the new luggage with the same URBAN luggage brand. I went home. At home, I tried to put my things to see how it is. To my horror, I found a tear near the ridge of the suitcase. I was flabbergasted. Does this mean that the suitcase was really super light? As in super light quality? I can’t believe this tragedy happened to me. Fury at its peak. What have I done to deserve this? Immediately, I called mom and we rented a vehicle going to SM Pampanga. That costed us so much that I don’t want to think or talk about it. As I couldn’t afford to get stressed out riding a PUV. Upon getting there, I just exploded and didn’t care people staring and eavesdropping. The managers were there. They tried to console me but I was consumed by my anger. That was the third time!! Not even second. Third!! So disappointing. Wait no that’s not the word. No, it’s like no words couldn’t describe this.

Ms. Lei was calling on my mobile phone. I recounted to her what happened. To her chagrin, she was shocked and was apologising about the terrible horrible incident. She gave me options. I can make a full refund, or another replacement. But I just stuck with the original suitcase that I returned which was way better than the second one. I just appreciated that the managers where kind and warm.

Please review your products. This Urban luggage brand needs to get their act together and do something about this. Because I am not keeping my mouth shut about this. I might also be a negligent shopper for not meticulously checking these items but my god shouldn’t these products be at their finest condition before they hit the stores?

This is traumatising.

#LOOKBOOKThursday

Taking away from Instagram’s #throwbackthursday, I rummaged thru LookBook’s hottest and newest ensembles from style savvies.  Here are my top picks.

I am a sucker for looks that are not too out there nor too polished. Just like this, there’s an extra sense of grunge and random about the outfits. Like this first laid back look from Billy H. He balanced the simplicity of his top with printed aztec printed shorts, boat shoes tied with red laces, and accessorised with trinkets. I think its not too much its just right.

Christian W. of  Melbourne's look will give me a run for my money. I have been making this look as my inspiration for some of my outfits. The perfect mix of casual and edge I must add. Since summer,  my hands are getting itchy in wearing jackets and layering things. Now that the weather got a little chill, I can now have a perfect excuse to layer things and get those outerwear out of the closet! I like that he added an extra pop of colour via boat shoes(which are on trend now with those unexpected colour pops with the sole), it makes it even cooler than expected.

This ensemble was well put together. I love how the jacket hugged his physique. Tailored fit. Accessorised with a clutch, knitted scarf which gave the look a sense of sophistication than being too casual.

Tobias L.’s look- I just love it. I’m obsessed with grays. Simple. Love it!!

Boston Selfie

It has been a while since I posted a selfie here. Might as well do one now! Rainy days makes my lazy ass stuck on the couch. Stay safe everyone!

H&M Jean shirt X DIY

This was my friend, Tel’s original idea. She showed me a picture of a shirt from H&M that she should’ve bought for her now fiance but when she was actually going to buy it was gone already. Too bad! Then, she told that it can be done by just cutting off the sleeves of a jacket and attaching a new sleeves to the jacket.

This was that H&M shirt minus the navy blue sleeves. Couldn’t find the exact shirt.

Finding your materials
So it instantly sparked my creative juices, I got off to the nearest thrift store to find some cool pieces that I can deconstruct. Luckily, I got something with 160 pesos, a pair of jackets in muted colours.

Dyeing
The shirt on the right side is too pale for blue so I decided to dye it to navy blue to emanate like a denim. See instructions for dyeing here.
While for the khaki brown shirt on the left, I didn’t go for dyeing it since fabric dyes here are little too limited with colours it might turn out like mahogany so I’m saving it. Hehe.

Chopping and attaching the sleeves
1. Measure the length from the middle of your palm to your shoulders and then use this measurement for the length of your sleeves. What I did was I gave a few allowance like 2 cm from the sleeve and then cut it out.
2. If you know how to sew using a machine then go for it. As for me, I opted to have it sewn from my friend.

And Voila!

Thoughts?

There, But Not Barely There

I think this wallpaper speaks audibly of my current spot. Gave up a bunch for this move I am taking now and in this crucial moment, I feel lost and losing it. No one would ever want to be standing in my shoe right now. Sucks to be me! Yeah. Haha.

I can see the light but…….

Free flying. This is what I aim to achieve. Hopefully, I could get there. To reach the concrete walls of my dream. It may not be the New York I am eyeing for but it could turn out to be the New York of my dreams.

Just a little prayer. Just a little more patience.

Rocker Dapper

I was going thru Pinterest when I stumbled upon this look. It really got me inspired. Doesn’t  literally scream rock and roll but it is a more subtle way of getting that look without being too out there. That captured my sense of style, not to really be so literal with everything. Just the right elements.

What this look got me was the leather sleeves of the jacket and the guy’s outpouring guts and confidence. Yes, it’s how you bring the look to life and be comfortable with it. Oh, the scruffs helped to toughen the look. This may look too casual than rock and roll chic without those special touches.

Would want to have my own spin of this look with this motorcycle vest. Can’t wait!

Confessions of a Not-So Shopaholic

I was in Marquee Mall with my sister. As I was going thru the sale rack, I stumbled upon this dapper jacket with faux leather shoulder patch detail. I have this fondness for clothes that accentuate or mimic strong shoulders like epaulettes and this unique leather patch. Interestingly, I got this super chic jacket for 600 pesos only(just $14) which originally retails at 1,399 pesos. Seldom do I spoil myself with ‘new’ clothes lately as I am also stretching my spending power and this one’s right on the money.

Upon seeing the movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic this morning I was saving myself from the guilt of overspending. Because unfortunately(as I would want to put it), I saw an equally on-trend denim jacket also on the sale rack for only 800 pesos. But I successfully got hold of myself, the shopaholic in me, to fight against it. hehe. Please, I deserve an applause. haha.

SAVED 799 pesos! Proud of this haul! two thumbs up.

Folded and Hung is having their end-of-the-season sale this whole month of June! Grab this chance. :)
