Hello Autumn!

Autumn, Autumn, my favourite season. The gloomy atmosphere that October brings makes me feel like I am on the set of Twilight. Do not mistake me for being a Twihard, I just have this sense of nostalgia from years back of what October feels like. That scene from Twilight where Bella was saved by Edward from a supposed car crash is a murky scene that I am addicted to with Collective Soul’s Tremble For My Beloved song on the background that is just right on for the scene.

When October steps in, I remember having this high level of elation and excitement. Because of Halloween and my birthday, where I expect to have fun and candies. Having this weirdness of looking forward for something shocking and different to happen on my birthday or on Halloween. Maybe, like ghosts appearing unexpectedly and all the imaginative craziness I have on my mind when I was 7. However, as I get younger and wiser, all of this feeling of excitement tend to fade away but still embarked until today. I want to go trick-or-treating once more! haha.

If I were to attend a costume party on Halloween, I want to play “A” on Pretty Little Liars. Psycho! From a sale store at a mall, I found this black leather glove with Rudolph Valentino on its tag. The other pair went missing, but still I bought it for only 10 pesos!

On that note, I am still that little kid wishing for something extraordinary to happen on Halloween. Of course not something that will hurt anyone. Hello October!

Ke$ha, The Warrior Princess

The Tik Tok singer has a new track released called Die Young. Her yet to be released latest album, Warrior should have been launched at the latter end of 2011 but Kesha insisted on its release. The reason is that she wanted to reinvent pop music into the rock direction. I certainly applaud her for this move and got me thinking that she is not just a puppet controlled by music’s bigwigs. Kesha thinks of what is next for her and for the future of music. Her album is slated for release comes December 2012. A perfect present for Christmas! Isn’t it?

Actually, I was really puzzled about her absence in the mainstream. But later I found out about this plan of hers. This album has got us waiting and craving for some Kesha music. It must have been cooked in just right for our hearing buds.

Are You Feeling it?

Saturday it is. I headed out to purchase some Christmas decor to hype up our Christmas tree. Christmas season has started.

My brother bought this tee from Team Manila, a mid high-end Filipino clothing brand. Team Manila has a vision of keeping the brand local and making it global. That is what most local brands want to achieve. As for me I do not really care if a brand is really globally huge so my choices are not brand sensitive. I want to explore variety and others. Having said that, I randomly picked this tee from my closet and together I created a pretty good ensemble. I paired the gorgeous tee with an almost skin tone skinny jeans and my ever favourite Oxford shoes.

Hype this look on lookbook.nu/knyfortaleza! Thanks Guys.

Versace for H&M

Designers and clothing brands have tried collaborating to create looks that are not too expensive but still having to experience high fashion design. H&M has collaborated with top designers for the past years. Versace is the latest famed collaboration.

This geometrical print T-shirt from the Versace for H&M collection instantly got my attention and I was in love with. The print resembles like a zebra print but in geometric figures. It can best be paired with a skinny jean and a neon coloured shoes or a black patent leather laden shoes. I hope to get my hands on this hot tee.

ASOS is on SALE

I learned this online store from Robbie Becroft’s blog, Robbie Off Duty. Asos is an online shop which boasts a free delivery charge anywhere you are in the world. A wide selection of garments are available for shoppers to choose from.

I personally selected some of the ultra fine goodies. The prices are in British Pounds so better get those calculator handy. Good-to-go items on 70% off are my usual go to racks whenever I visit the store. Typically, garments start to sell at 9 pounds for the sale items which is a big cut from its original price. I am trying to shy away from potential expenses for now but most likely I will be purchasing here soon. Having said that, this site is a highly recommended site for people swamped with work, shopaholics and basically to anyone. See you there!

I Am In Glee For GLEE Again

The previous season of Glee was kind of having a dull moment and I am not getting into every episode. But this season has a fresh start with new cast and I am excited to what will happen to Rachel and Kurt. I am definitely looking forward to see a new love interest for Rachel Berry and a very hot one! Dean Geyer is determined to win Rachel’s heart.

I think this season is a big one and a big gamble. A big one since Kate Hudson’s multiple guest appearance to mentor Rachel and the sexy Sarah Jessica Parker will get her hands on Kurt Hummel as a Vogue.com editor. Wow! Talking about power cast. Also, it is a big gamble for the addition of new casts that will test the waters of the glee audience.

The Queen is Back

The golden voiced Christina Aguilera has just dropped a brand new single called "Your Body" that is filled with vocal gymnastics, an Aguilera signature. This is the lead single from her up and coming 7th studio album entitled Lotus. Her album is set to be released on November 13.

The queen is definitely going full on with this one since her Bionic album which did not do so well commercially. I am guessing this one will be a redemption and got to be bigger. Her judging stint on the hit reality TV singing competition, The Voice has helped her build and spark her career taming career. With no one in competition with her powerful voice and matching talent, Xtina as what we her fans call her is set to dominate the charts and air waves yet again. Xtina will not disappoint this time! The queen is effing back.

Laid Back Friday

I caught some colds and felt a bit sick but this did not stop me from styling up. Looking sick and thinking that you are sick will make you even more sicker so why stay bummed at home. A trip to the mall will certainly make me feel better so I headed out. I headed to the city with this not so sickly ensemble. Also, I brought with me  a cardigan just in case. My Mom’s 60th birthday is fast approaching so I am searching for the perfect gift for her first senior year. She is sick right now and hoping that she will recuperate soon enough before her birthday!

I Got My Dose of Project Runway

After Anya Ayoung’s victory for season 9, I was bummed because I needed to wait for another season. Another season, meaning months of waiting! But I heard Project Runway will have a spin-off. So, Project Runway All Stars came about. While watching teasers for the newest season, I saw some promising designers that I was rooting for, for the previous season like Mondo Guerra and Mila Hermanovsky. I was hoping for Maya Luz to be part of the season since her decision to drop out of the competition during her season. But maybe she will grace the next season of All Stars.

A big dismay for me was Tim Gunn’s exclusion to the latest season! Joanna Coles meanwhile filled in for Gunn’s shoes as the mentor to the All Stars. I just miss Tim Gunn’s presence on the show but Joanna also did an amazing job in guiding the designers do their A game. I was thrilled to see the gorgeous Georgina Chapman, the co-founder of Marchesa. Isaac Mizrahi was a host in Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show and I was a bit  intrigued to see him on the show as a juror. Moreover, the hosting stint was taken over by the equally beautiful supermodel, Angela Lindvall. In the end, I get it that all the judges and the mentor started with a clean slate since this is not just a new season but an All Stars season.

At large, the season really took a notch higher via tough and grueling challenges. One of which is a Project Runway first, the 6-hour challenge given by THE Diane Von Fursternburg, CFDA President and the queen of RTW. A half a million dollars worth of prizes awaits the winning designer. I was on Mondo’s team since the first day and gladly he became the victor of the very first season of Project Runway All Stars. I can’t wait for the next season!

Heaven Sent

Yesterday morning as I went home from work, I have not felt any exhaustion from the shift but a lot more nerves building up. Last August, I took my IELTS examination. And that day was the reaping of the harvest. My heart was beating like an 808 drum as I open my laptop. After several attempts to check the result, still no results have been shown. Then, I tried again. To my horror, I saw my scores. It was so surreal! I prepared for this for almost two months and an outcome of my preparation is this blog. This is like a validation that I do not just write simple nothings and that I can really write something.

My heartfelt gratitude to World English Reviews for honing my skills and for being so generous. I also owe this success to blogging and Wordpress for being a vehicle to my thought content. To all who prayed and helped pave way for this triumph, thank you! To God be the glory. Cheers!

No Other Print

Few days ago, I got a message from one of my trusted thrift stores, saying that they have new goodies for me! Wow, I got so excited but I got a little broke so I went 2 days after. There were really a lot great finds. My goodness!! So, I stood back and prioritize what should be bought first.

Initially, I was drawn away by the cardigan and a jacket. If only I have enough, I could have bought them. On my mind, I was thinking that I have a lot of jackets and I can not wear them all the time since it’s almost summer in the Philippines. Going back, I drew myself away and went on to other racks waiting to be unveiled. Thrift shopping is exciting!

Okay, so I got a little greedy and fitted 6 garments in one fitting session. However, only one stood out it is a sleeveless printed top. A snake-skin print for Kenny? Oh my, that is a first! Personally, I don’t go for these but this top got my attention and when I tried it on it really is a beauty! This top reminded be of Anne Curtis’ swimwear in the movie, No Other Woman where she and Cristine Reyes had a confrontation. This line by Cristine hit me, "Bikini mo ba iyan o balat mo?” (in Filipino). She said "Is that your bikini or your skin?”. Anne Curtis is rocking a pair of snake-skin bikini print during this scene. Cristine was squabbling against Anne for having an affair with her husband Derek. So snake is the word.

Having said that I am scared of animal prints but I braved myself and went out of my comfort zone. Hopefully I can rock this like Anne Curtis did. Haha. In a full ear to ear smile, I headed out of the store.

Total: 360 Pesos for the snake print top and another top.

Under Repair

I got these two straight cut pants a year ago from thrift shopping. I almost wanted to get rid of them because I don’t have enough space for my clothes. Yes, I need bigger space now for more goodies. Haha. However, the colors of these trousers are so in this season that it got me thinking that I can just have it repaired from an alteration store. At last today, I got them repaired and I will be picking them up at 3pm. Really, I am super excited about the fit and to incorporate them in my wardrobe. But when I tried them on, I don’t feel good about the bottom half of the pants. It needs to get skinnier so I sent them again for repair. Then, it fits impeccably. Thanks to Mr. Tailor.

The first one is a Lee Jeans straight cut trouser. It is in khaki brown and in stretch fabric. I don’t know what they call that fabric but I know it is a denim. So, this Lee jean can turn into a skinny one I told myself, as I instructed that for the tailor to do. The last one is a Uniqlo straight cut pant in moss green. For this one, I decided to go for like a chino or carrot pant finish.

If you happen to find a really good pair of pants from thrift shops but the fit is off, try it get repaired from your trusted tailor. You will get what you want at a reasonable cost and still having a customised fit. I rummage for pants with quality fabric and has a great fit from the waist so that you will still retain the design of the trouser. But whatever, you still are the ultimate decision maker.

These are how they look now and I am beyond elated with the result. I didn’t take pictures from the unaltered look.
